Now Offering EMDR INTENSIVES ⋆
Hi, I’m Jen Viola, LPC (she/her).
Therapy, but Make It Real
If you’re looking for a therapist who sits in a stiff chair, nods solemnly, and asks, “How does that make you feel?” over and over—I am not your person. Therapy with me is a no-judgment zone, where sweatpants are encouraged, shoes are optional, and humor is absolutely part of the process. Healing is hard, so we might as well laugh when we can.
I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor with a special love for Attachment-Focused EMDR, Somatic Work, and Brain Science Magic™ (okay, it’s not magic, but it’s pretty close). My job isn’t to “fix” you—because you’re not broken. Instead, I’ll walk alongside you, helping untangle the messy stuff that keeps you stuck. Think of me as your trail guide for healing—you do the hiking, I help with the map.
How I Work
I go deep. I ask the hard questions. I help clients uncover why they do what they do—so they can start doing things differently. My bread and butter is attachment-focused therapy, because so much of what we struggle with now started in childhood. We work through those old wounds together, so they don’t keep running the show.
I also know that trauma isn’t just in your head—it’s in your body, too. That’s why I use somatic approaches to help release what’s been stored for too long. And if you’re a nerd for brain science (or just curious), I love explaining how EMDR actually rewires your brain so it stops reacting like it’s stuck in the past.
What to Expect in My Office
Casual Vibes, Deep Work – This isn’t a place for pretense. Just real talk, real work, and a safe space to figure things out.
No Perfection Needed – Got ADHD? Same. Motherhood chaos? Been there. Lost in college? I get it. Forget what you were saying mid-sentence? Happens to the best of us.
Collaboration Over Authority – You’re the expert on you. I’m just here to help make sense of things and offer tools that actually work.
Relentless Learning & Growth – I’m a solo practitioner, but I never work alone—I constantly seek consultation, training, and fresh perspectives. If we hit a wall, I don’t stop until we figure out a way through it.
A Little More About Me
Before becoming a therapist, I was a teacher and middle school counselor (yes, middle school—if that tells you anything about my patience and sense of humor). I know what it’s like to juggle big emotions, big responsibilities, and the occasional “where the heck did I put my keys” moment. I believe in working hard and playing hard. I wear yoga pants, put my feet up, and bring my full, human self into every session—because that’s what makes therapy work.
If you're ready to dig deep, challenge old patterns, and finally start feeling like your authentic self, let's do this. Healing happens here—and it happens best when we’re real about it.
My Approach
EMDR, But With an Attachment and Somatic Twist
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an absolute game-changer for trauma, anxiety, and all those old stories your brain keeps replaying on loop. But here’s the thing—trauma doesn’t just live in your mind, it’s stored in your body and shaped by your relationships. That’s why I use Attachment-Focused EMDR (AF-EMDR) and Somatic Techniques to get to the heart of the issue.
Attachment-Focused EMDR digs into how your earliest relationships shaped your nervous system, beliefs, and emotional patterns. It’s not just about what happened—it’s about how it still affects you today.
Somatic Techniques help release trauma from where it’s stored in your body (because, yes, your body remembers even when your mind tries to forget). Instead of just talking about your pain, we work through it on a deeper level—so it stops showing up in ways you don’t want.
If traditional EMDR is like deleting old, unhelpful files from your brain, attachment and somatic work make sure those files don’t get stuck in the recycle bin.
Complex PTSD & Trauma Therapy: Let’s Unpack the Hard Stuff
If you’ve been through childhood trauma, relational wounds, or long-term emotional neglect, you know the effects don’t just disappear with time. They show up in relationships, anxiety, self-doubt, and that constant feeling of something’s wrong with me (spoiler: nothing is wrong with you, your nervous system just got rewired for survival).
We work at your pace to:
✔ Make sense of your past without getting overwhelmed.
✔ Build resilience so you don’t feel stuck in survival mode.
✔ Develop self-compassion (because that inner critic? We’re gonna quiet it down).
✔ Reconnect with your authentic self—not the version of you that had to adapt to survive.
Trauma healing is hard, but it doesn’t have to be miserable. I create a space that’s safe, supportive, and sometimes even a little fun.
OCD: Taking Your Brain Off the Hamster Wheel
If OCD has you stuck in an endless cycle of intrusive thoughts and compulsions, we’re going to flip the script with I-CBT (Inferential Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). Unlike traditional approaches that focus on stopping compulsions, I-CBT targets the root issue—doubt and faulty reasoning.
Here’s how it works:
🔹 Instead of getting caught in compulsions, we change how you interpret the thoughts in the first place.
🔹 We retrain your brain to recognize when it’s making up stories that aren’t real (because OCD loves to make you doubt yourself).
🔹 Over time, you’ll trust yourself again and stop feeling like your mind is running the show.
This approach is evidence-based, practical, and incredibly effective. Together, I’ll help you get your life back.
So… What Exactly is EMDR?
If you’ve ever wished you could rewire your brain so trauma stops hijacking your emotions, EMDR is for you. It’s a powerful, research-backed therapy that helps your brain reprocess painful memories and beliefs so they don’t control you anymore.
Uses bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sounds) to activate your brain’s natural healing system.
Helps clear out past trauma, negative beliefs, and anxiety triggers.
Works way faster than traditional talk therapy for trauma, anxiety, and PTSD.
With Attachment-Focused EMDR, I personalize the process so it works for you. We will work together to build a strong foundation before diving into tough memories, making sure you feel supported and safe every step of the way.
This Isn’t Cookie-Cutter Therapy. It’s a Team Effort.
I believe in showing up as my full, human self in therapy—because healing happens when we feel connected. You’re not just a client, and I’m not just a therapist. We’re a team. I’ll challenge you, I’ll push you when needed, and I’ll support you without judgment.
Sweatpants are welcome. Shoes are optional. Humor is encouraged. Let’s get to work.
